What would my credit score be before I get any credit?
August 30, 2010 · Posted in Improve Your Credit Score
I just turned 18 in July and I have no credit history at all. What would my credit score be right now now? What does it start out at? What is the easiest way to increase my credit score? How long does it take to build credit? Do you get points per month or how does it work?

It starts off as nothing. If you get negative info it starts at 300 and up.
When you create credit for about 3 months you will get a score. After about 6 months it will create a history report of statistics, only for getting more credit (you will not see this). Credit depends on many things. One credit card on a blank credit can get you a 700, but that doesn’t mean banks will trust you. It takes time and accounts being paid back.
It is easier to get credit with no credit, like now, then if you jack up your credit and have bad credit. Until you have accounts reporting you may not have a score and I see that regularly when people pull their credit reports. There are several factors that make up your credit score and Fair Isaacs Corp, which came up with the FICO score, is the most widely used scoring system. Here’s a link to their website where you can find out more: http://www.myfico.com/CreditEducation/.
Usually you don’t get a credit score without about a year of history. So, you may not even have a score at this point.
For this type of situation you better talk to specialist.
Every hard situation needs an expert. An expert can always give a new perspective to your problem.
It is amazingly simple to get a credit card. Start there and build a good history. Pay your debts on time and never get underwater.
As long as you are responsible with payments and stuff, I guess that won’t be a problem. Don’t worry too much. Just keep in mind your own limits. Good luck to you.

You most likely do not have a score right now, but don’t worry too much about the score at this stage. Similar to another blog posting on this site, try to obtain a department store card and start using it each month and pay more than the minimum. Store cards are easier to obtain than regular credit cards, and it gives you a fairly easy way to start building credit. I knew someone recently that got a car loan with a credit score of zero, why it showed up zero, not even the finance manager knew, but because there was a year of credit history showing on their credit report, and the fact they put 40% down, they got the loan, and can now build more good credit history by paying the car loan each month on time.
You can get a secured credit card to build a credit history first. It will help you build credit if it reports information to the credit bureaus.
I do have credit cards and I really understand this situation. Credit scoring is based upon your previous and ongoing financial affairs and how you personally handle them. For example, if you are late paying bills this can take a chunk out of your credit score. In this current economic crisis your credit score may be taking more of a hit than you actually released. Thanks for this very helpful article.

When you start your credit score would probably a Zero. But with responsible usage of your credit you can gain good score soon. The best way to start is through a credit card.
You must have some credit records and before that you must have any source of income if you are going to take a loan, otherwise you can borrow a student loan.
Thanks for taking time for sharing this excellent informative article. It’s my first time that I visit here. I found a lot of informative stuff in your article. keep it up. Thank you.
You should be responsible with your credits for you to earn more points. Pay all your debts on time and there will be no problem at all. This nice post will be helpful to everyone! thanks for posting …have a good one.
As what I know, anything above 700 is already considered a good credit score, but it’s not actually that simple. There are different credit scoring systems. It depends on different scales. So, a good credit score depends on the scoring system used by a lender.
We all know what a credit score is, and we all know what a credit score can do for you. We all also know that if you have a bad credit score you must find ways to improve your credit score. If you have bad credit you are basically in deep water when it comes to getting a home loan, auto finance or basically any other type of loan in you do not find ways to improve credit score. Hope I give another idea.

I’m in high school. If I use my mom’s credit card at a store will they accept the credit card?
When you get your first credit card, don’t use more than 50% of the available credit and each month pay on time and pay a little above the minimum amount due.

Well..Apply for a card…use it very often and make sure the payments are done at the right time…you will get good credit score.
If you really want a good credit score, first apply for a credit card. And spend your available credits to those important things you can’t live without them at the expense that you can afford to pay those expenses. Lastly be an outstanding member by paying your credit on time
Apply for a retail or gas card. Complete an online application or an in-store retail credit application to see whether you can obtain a credit card. Gas and retail credit cards are easier to get than bank cards when you have no credit history. Then, Apply for a secured major credit card. These are credit cards backed by a cash deposit. Seek information about secured credit cards from your bank. Find out how much you need to put down for your security deposit and other fees associated with the credit card. Also, make sure the bank reports secured credit card accounts to the major credit bureaus. After you have obtain these, ask your parents to co-sign a credit card application for you or ask them to co-sign a small auto loan to help you establish a credit history. Pay your bills on time to increase your score. Do not miss payments, and contact creditors beforehand if you think you may not be able to pay your bill. Make special arrangements or ask for a skip payment option to prevent a late fee and negative marks on your credit report. Hope this helps you.
From what i have heard, your credit score shouldn’t be atleast negative to avail credit. Have to checked with various credit score tools available? They’d definitely help. Even for bad credits.

I am going to let my house in California foreclose. I have about $28,000.00 in credit card debt. Should I file for bankruptcy? Should I just not pay my credit cards? Or should I continue to pay my credit cards? Is there a certain dollar amount of income you are allowed to make to be able to file for bankruptcy. Thanks a lot.
My credit score is about 615. I am working on improving my score so that I can qualify for a mortgage loan with low financing in about a year or so. I currently have an auto loan, and 3 revolving credit accounts. (All bank credit cards) Two of the revolving accounts are new, and the other almost a year old. My auto loan will be a year old in July of this year. Should I apply for more credit to get my score higher? If so what type of credit? What is a good mixture of credit to have to get a person’s score higher? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
Credit don’t release their exact scoring system otherwise people could figure out ways to trick the system. The credit bureaus use lots of different factors to determine your credit score such as, length of time credit accounts have been open, time in good standing, credit limit, balance compared to limit, diversified credit lines, amount of total credit extended, ranking inside your own secret tier within that particular credit service and many other factors. The good news is, you don’t need to figure this out because lenders these days only use your credit score as a guide. Credit is extended much more on the basis of the CONTENT of your credit history not your credit score. If you get a few credit diversified credit accounts like an auto loan and a credit card, and make payments on time while keeping your balance to about 1/3rd of available limit or less you will grow your credit score quickly.
thanks for posting such a nice information
please keep posting such information
I have a credit score of 615 and I am trying really hard to get a motorcycle or a loan for one please somebody help me with a site or somethin i can go to, please no answers about how i should pay my bills on time to get better credit.
Typically your score starts low, but as you gain available credit and make your payments on time you will see the score start to improve.
Happy to see your blog as it is just what I?ve looking
for and excited to read all the posts.
I am look onward to another grand article from you.
Nice one, Thank you for this great information, you write very well which i like very much. I am really impressed by your post.
Great blog, now I know how to get it.Thanks for your sharing.
I wouldn’t recommend getting a loan off the internet. If your bank won’t finance you for a loan, then you’re just going to have to do what I know you don’t want to hear. Try to pay the things you currently have off before adding to your debt.
