How do I remedy a debt that was assigned to my ex-husband?
When my ex-husband and I got a divorce, the divorce agreement stated that he would take two debts that he incurred while we were married. They were his responsibility but they are still showing up on my credit report. Is there any way to stop these debts from being reflected on my credit?
Any help at all is appreciated.

Credit repair advice to qualify for a mortgage.
My husband and I would like to buy a home but we are not sure we would qualify for a mortgage because our credit is not great. I contacted lending.com recently to find out what we can do to be ready in 6 to 9 months. They said that our credit score was less than 500 and there’s nothing they could do to help us. If we pay off the doctor bills that are on our credit report, would it raise our credit score? Does anyone know of any mortgage companies that handle high risk credit? Any advice on getting our credit score raised would be greatly appreciated!

What does my credit score need to be to finance a car?
I recently paid off all my debts and my credit scores are slowly improving. I got my credit report and it doesn’t look too bad since most of the negatives have been removed. I, like so many other people, messed up my credit when I was younger and I’m still paying for it now. My credit scores range from 579 – 618. Is this good enough to get a loan for a car, or do I need to wait a while longer?

How to dispute negative items on your credit report
There are a few items on my credit report that have been re-opened by collection agencies. It is my understanding that they are not allowed to do this. The statute of limitations has passed and they should be removed from my credit report. I have never had a problem about items dropping off before. This Capital One account will not drop off and the three different collection agencies for this one account keep reporting a new date opened. It has been 8 years now and they are still on my credit report. How can I get them removed?
Also, when you view your credit report, where is the “date of last activity”? All I see is the open date and last reported date. The last reported date can’t possibly be the date to go by because then the statute of limitations would be meaningless. Lenders and collection agencies could just keep reporting and the account would stay on your credit report forever.

Can we report an unpaid civil judgement to the credit bureaus?
We were awarded a civil judgment for $100,000. It was signed by a judge and filed with the court in Jackson County Missouri. The defendant never paid and we would like for this to show up on his credit report. I have heard that unpaid civil judgments can be included in the personal section of a credit report but I haven’t been able to find out how to get the credit bureaus to acknowledge this debt and show it on his credit report. Can anyone tell me how to get this debt on his credit report?

How should I start fixing my credit?
I have been ignoring my credit problems for years. I have decided that it’s time to start doing something about it because someday I would like to buy a house, a new car etc…
It is mostly credit card debt but there are a couple of other small debts. About 60% of the negative items on my credit report is around six years old. The rest of them are about 1 year old.
I know that when you pay collections off it will drop your score. I am ok with that if it will improve in the long run. Should I pay off all of them? Are negative items removed after seven years anyway?
I have two credit cards that are in good standing and I know this will help my credit score also.
What is the best way to repair your credit? I am overwhelmed and I just don’t know where to start. Also should I try to negotiate with the collection agencies? Do I need everything in writing from them?
Is there some good books I could read?

I have two identity theft accounts and they have become collection accounts. How can I remove them?
I have two identity theft accounts. Someone used my social security number to apply for SBC and Direct TV. I never received bills from them. When I found out about these accounts, they already showed as collection on my credit report. These are having a negative effect on my credit. I called up the collection agency for SBC and told them this is not my account but they are not willing to remove them. I called the Federal Trade Commission and reported these but they said they couldn’t do anything about this. I have tried to consult free legal aides but they didn’t reply!
