What happens to your credit score if you pay off all your debt and never get another credit card?

October 16, 2011 · Posted in Improve Your Credit Score · 28 Comments

I have a tremendous amount of bad debt. Almost 2000 dollars. If I were to pay it all off, would it raise my score or just keep it from getting lower? I have no intention of EVER having another credit card. My credit score is in the low 500s. What will happen if I pay off all debt and do nothing to raise my score?

I need help fixing my credit but I don’t know where to start.

October 3, 2010 · Posted in Improve Your Credit Score · 51 Comments

Here’s my situation: I have about 10k in debt and really bad credit. About 90% of my debt is medical bills that I could not help because I didn’t have insurance. The rest is unpaid cell phone bills, utility bills and a credit card that is wriiten off as “bad debt”. I’m only 23 and I want to fix this so I can buy a car, a home, and start buliding my credit again. If I just start paying them off with what I can afford (that would only be about $200 a month) this would take years to pay off. I’m also getting married next year with no one to help pay for the wedding and everything. My fiancee’s credit is just as bad as mine, so he can’t help. What is the best thing for me to do so I can at least buy a home in the near future? I don’t want to be in my 30′s and still living paycheck to paycheck. I’ve heard of debt consolidation loans, but if you need decent credit to get a loan, how could I get one? I know there are alot of scams that would take advantage of a person in my situation so I want to find a reputable company to work with.

Is a credit history required to get a store credit card?

      August 13, 2010 · Posted in Qualify For Credit · 33 Comments

I don’t have any credit history because I just started working. I would like to start building my credit history and I thought a store credit card would be easier to get than a regular credit card. So I was wondering, do I need to have past credit history to get a regular Walmart Credit Card (not their Discover Card because I probably wouldn’t qualify). If you have any idea, please help. Thanks.

I always thought that lenders love to give credit cards at 18, but I’ve tried Capitol One, Chase, a QT credit card, and a Best Buy one. All of them denied me because of no credit history. Obviously, I won’t be able to get a credit history if they won’t let me have credit. I Work two jobs and I want to have a credit card just in case and to build my credit. Why do I keep getting denied?

I only have one credit card, and I have a very high credit score. Because of my good score, the credit card company keeps increasing my line of credit even though I don’t ask for it or use it. I have been told that if you ask for a credit line decrease it will lower your credit score. Why is that? What can you do to minimize a lowered credit score?

Can debt consolidation reduce interest charges?

May 2, 2010 · Posted in Improve Your Credit Score · 4 Comments

I have two credit cards that I have used over 5 years ago and never paid back. The total of the two cards FIVE YEARS AGO was $1000. Of course, by now, it should be close to $3000 because of all the interests.

What does debt consolidation do? More importantly, can it REALLY remove or reduce the interest that built up over the last 5 years?

When doing a search for debt consolidation services, I get THOUSANDS of results. Which debt consolidation services are better?

          Detailed answers would be appreciated.
