What would my credit score be before I get any credit?

I just turned 18 in July and I have no credit history at all. What would my credit score be right now now? What does it start out at? What is the easiest way to increase my credit score? How long does it take to build credit? Do you get points per month or how does it work?

What is a good interest rate for a personal loan?

I took out a $4,000 personal loan from a credit union. It’s a five year loan and the interest rate is 9.9%. Is this a good deal? I have excellent credit, I have never been late on any payments and I have already paid one student loan bill in full.

Is a credit history required to get a store credit card?

      August 13, 2010 · Posted in Qualify For Credit · 33 Comments

I don’t have any credit history because I just started working. I would like to start building my credit history and I thought a store credit card would be easier to get than a regular credit card. So I was wondering, do I need to have past credit history to get a regular Walmart Credit Card (not their Discover Card because I probably wouldn’t qualify). If you have any idea, please help. Thanks.

What percentage of your income goes toward your mortgage payment?

We’re getting ready to buy a house and I’m just curious about what percentage of their income people are comfortable with spending on their mortgage. What is your mortgage payment (including taxes and insurance) and your household income, and are you comfortable with your mortgage payments?

        Thanks!

How to improve FICO score and repair credit

August 2, 2010 · Posted in Improve Your Credit Score · 20 Comments

I would like to fix my credit and improve my FICO score so I can purchase a home of my own. I currently have a lot of debt but I really need to get my life back on track. Would it be better to file bankruptcy and start over or would I be better off paying on my debts to clear them up?

Also, once I settle my debts, how do I improve my FICO score?
